The girls basketball team is preparing for the first round of Sectionals, which will be located at Warren Central High School. The Panthers will be going into sectionals with an impressive record of 23-0 and currently holding the number one ranking in the state. In addition, the team is also ranked nationally at number  in the nation.

The schools that are in Sectional 10 will certainly make winning the Sectional Championship a vigorous task including: Warren Central, North Central, Indianapolis Arsenal Technical, Indianapolis Cathedral, Lawrence Central, and Lawrence North. The Panthers will be playing the host, Warren Central Warriors, on Tuesday, January 31.

The Panthers and Warriors will have faced each other  twice before this coming Tuesday’s game. In their first matchup the Panthers won the game by a score of 67-58. The two teams played again on Friday, January 27 where the Panthers came out victorious with a final score of 89-67.

Taylor Ramey, junior, shared her thoughts on the team’s previous matchup with the Warriors.

“We played really well collectively as a team and got out to a 30 point lead, but we allowed them to come back late in the game,” Ramey said.

Taylor is confident about the team’s chances to win on Tuesday.

“I think if we just come and play our game we should come out with the dub,” Ramey said.

The two matchups before the Tuesday sectional game will impact how both teams prepare for each other. Each team will know exactly how the other plays on both sides of the floor.

The coaches for the two teams will impact the game through their own gameplans. The Warriors are coached by Stacy Mitchell, who is currently in the first year as head coach of Warren. The Panthers are coached by DeeAnn Ramey, who is in her sixth year coaching at NC. Ramey is also the mother of player, Taylor Ramey.

North Central has an overall record of 23-0 right now and is currently 10-0 in conference play as well. The Warriors have a record of 12-11 and are currently 1-7 in conference play in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference. This first round matchup will bring plenty of excitement to the state tournament.
