Restaurant Review: Next Door

Restaurant+Review%3A+Next+Door

It looks like another up and coming restaurant in Indianapolis. You can not tell, from the road, that the place is owned by the brother of the tech billionaire Elon Musk, Kimberly Musk.

This branch of Next Door is not the first of this chain of restaurants. There are 10 Next Door restaurants open throughout the country. They are located in Colorado, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois.

Next Door prides itself on using non-processed, locally sourced ingredients for its dishes. They also guarantee that the ingredients they use are healthy and bought only from producers they know and trust.

Next Door caters to all kinds of diets. They produce vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan dishes.

The first dish reviewed is the Kale Chips. As an appetizer, it must set the standard for the meal to come. Kale Chips, which are not really chips, set that bar very high.

When you think of Kale, you usually picture some leafy green that is healthy but does not taste good at all. This is not that kind of kale. These Kale Chips are fried and covered in salt, removing any kind of healthy qualities from the vegetable. Awesome.

These “chips” are so oily, in fact, that they almost soak through the napkin that you have to use to wipe your hands. Good start.

The next dish to be reviewed is the Baja Burger. In this slightly Mexican themed burger is guacamole, cilantro, jalapenos and lime cream.

All the ingredients in this burger work very well together. The cilantro gives the guacamole a perfect zing, while the jalapenos, because they are pickled, do not light your mouth on fire, but do give a tasteful amount of spice.

The last dish to be reviewed is the Cheeseburger, an American classic.

It is very difficult to mess up the creation of a Cheeseburger. The only thing that can affect it is the quality of the ingredients.

Next Door’s ingredients are superb. The lettuce, tomato, and onion are all from Indiana farmers, and the ingredients do not taste processed at all. The Black Angus burger was cooked to perfection. The meat was juicy and full of flavor. The burger combined nicely with the white cheddar, tomato and lettuce. 9/10
