Girls Swimming Update

Girls+Swimming+Update

Girls swimming has three wins and two losses in regular season.

Most recently, the girls swam against Hamilton Southeastern High School in a loss by a score of 118.5-67.5. However, the individual winners from NC were sophomore Alani Hightower in the 100 yard freestyle, junior Meggie McPherson in the 500 yard freestyle, senior Ashley Glesing in the 100 yard breaststroke, and the 200 yard freestyle relay consisting of junior Grace Lough, Glesing, Hightower, and McPherson.

Regarding invitationals the team placed 5th in both the NC Invite and the Fort Wayne Homestead Invite.

The team also finished second at the MIC Championship, falling short to Carmel. On the team, swimmers looking to qualify for the state championship are seniors Delaney Isakson, and Glesing, as well as juniors McPherson, Lough, and sophomore Hightower.

The girls are looking forward to breaking the school record for the 200 medley relay, including Hightower, Glesing, McPherson and Lough.

The state tournament begins Feb. 8 at the IUPUI Natatorium.

Coach Josh Saylor, in his first season as head coach for the boys and girls swim teams hopes to carry on the record of consecutive sectional championships for the girls. Not an easy feat for the girls as they will meet Franklin Central High School in the sectional championship on Jan. 31.
