4Peat for Boys Tennis?

As the boys Tennis season is coming up they are looking for their fourth state title. Although they have lost key players such as JT Wynne, JJ Kroot, and Steven Christy, they have also gained new talent such as Ian Brady.

This year, the team is made up of younger teammates and will have to rely on some of the Junior leadership.

”Most of JV and Varsity are Juniors this year so it is mainly Junior leadership,” Henry Rodefeld said.

One of the biggest goals for the team this year is to make it to the state championships.

“Our biggest goal this year is to complete the four peat,” Junior Evan Chamberlain said.

The team is putting in a lot of hard work and effort to continue their reign of state wins. If the team can pull off another win this will just add to their dynasty.

As usual, Carmel is going to be the match that most players feel is the hardest. Freshman and starting player on the team, Ian Brady, is focused on winning the four peat by going to other states to compete. Brady has early release to get a head start at practice.

“Personally this year I will bring a lot of energy and positivity and hopefully some big wins to help us win state,” Brady said.

There will be many matches home this year such as Fishers, Kokomo, Carmel, and Brebeuf.

”The match that I am looking forward to the most is the Carmel match,” Griffin Beck said.

When matches are coming up, Anthony Gosling, one of the players, makes commercials to get students to come out and support the team.

“The commercials are really just tools to get people to come to our matches,” Gosling said. “At face value, tennis is a sport that can be hard for people unfamiliar with it to be excited about. However, there is no tennis team like us in the state.”
The team will also travel to play Park Tudor and Roncalli later this season.
