Boys lacrosse starts season off hot

The boys lacrosse team has gotten off to a solid start this season with a current record of 5-2. They won their most recent game this past Tuesday at home against Avon with a final score of 9-5.
Lacrosse is different from most other high school sports in Indiana in that each team must earn their way into the tournament. After missing the playoffs last season, the team has their sights set on a post-season appearance this year.
“Our biggest goal is to make the tournament this year,” Junior defender J.B. Kauffman said.
Like all teams, the boys have some pre-game traditions that they stick to for each game. To get ready for their games, the team gets motivated by listening to music together.
“We bring all the speakers in the locker room and it’s just crazy in there,” Kauffman said.
Kauffman says that the team excels when they face adversity and are known to make frequent comebacks. In their game against Chesterton, they came back from down five goals to pull out a 10-9 victory.
“One word I would use to describe our team is resilient,” Kauffman said. “Our biggest strength is being able to come back.”
Their next game is friday at home at 6:45 p.m. against Columbus East.
