Boys Baseball preview
This year, the baseball team is looking to improve from year. Last season, the team had a winning record of 17-10 with their best win being against Center Grove. In the state tournament, they ended up getting eliminated by Carmel High School, but this year they are motivated and coming back strong.
The team has been putting in work since after winter break with morning workouts starting at 5:15 a.m. ending at 7:00 a.m., and now practices are starting after school at 3:15 p.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m. Although the players are not fans of the morning workouts, head coach Phil Mcintyre, has been coaching the North Central baseball team for 15 years now and he knows what he has to do to push his team to reach their goals.
The baseball program has produced many college players in the past few years such as Alan Lozer, Allbry Major, Josh Wooten. The only college commit on the team this year, as of now, is Nick Elmendorf and he plans on attending Franklin College.
“This season I am excited to have the opportunity to play at Victory Field in the Marion County tournament,” Elmendorf said, “The biggest struggle will be overcoming our tough sectional”.
Their sectional consists of Carmel, Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern. Over the past four years, they have not won a sectional.
