Allbry Major Q&A

Allbry+Major+Q%26A

Travis Finchum sat down with two sport athlete Allbry Major:

Q: What was the transition from baseball to basketball like?

A: It’s a really big change in pace. There’s always something going on and if you’re not paying attention then you could miss it.

Q: What is the difference in your roles on the basketball team from the baseball team?

A: I have a lot more leadership and responsibility during baseball season. For basketball I’m the that teammate that’s always hype and encouraging everyone else.

Q: What are some differences between basketball and baseball in terms of team characteristics?

A: Well there’s not as many athletes on the basketball team than there is on the baseball team. Both sports have their responsibilities but in basketball they’re amplified.

Q: How do the two coaches differ in personalities?

A: Coach Mitchell is a lot more hands off style. He’s good at finding ways to motivate and drive you to be the best you can possibly be. Coach McIntyre works more fundamentals and stresses the importance of the basics.

Q: What made you decide to try out for the basketball team?

A: I always just messed around with basketball when I was in JROTC since sophomore year. I was always regretful I didn’t play two sports at all in my life, so then senior year I decided to just go for it.

Q: Are you still doing baseball activities while basketball is in season?

A: I still hit twice a week and I am participating in a throwing program on Sundays.

Q: Did you have to become in better shape to compete in basketball than baseball?

A: Back in open Gym I survived the running, but it’s much more intense than baseball is.

Q: How did you deal with competing against players that have been playing basketball all their life?

A: I just try to use what advantages and what I’ve learned so far to be as effective as possible to make up for my inexperience.

Q: What is your favorite moment from playing basketball so far this season?

A: Probably the Carmel game. The pre game was hype and then the rivalry and crowd size amplified the experience.

Q: What is your favorite baseball memory?
A: County Championship 2k16
