The softball team took the field against the defending state champs Carmel during a windy afternoon. Although they faced a formidable opponent, the team came out determined.
The Panthers managed to hold the Greyhounds to a scoreless first inning.
The second inning brought a momentum shift as Carmel scored 5 of its 12 runs. Carmel sophomore Erica Arbuckle held the Panthers scoreless in the six innings she pitched with two strikeouts. The Panthers stranded all four of their baserunners.
Carmel added one run in the third and six more in the sixth inning to bring their run total to 12. The final score was 12-0 in favor of Carmel.
The Panthers struggled offensively with only two hits in the game.
The team’s next game is this weekend as they will compete in the North Central Invitational.
