Young Lives: three years in the making

Today, it is not uncommon to encounter a teen mother at North Central High School.  Jon Whitmer, a leader of the Christian organization Young Life, became accustomed to this occurrence through his regular visits to North Central.  Three years ago, Whitmer, along with other Young Life leaders established a new ministry of Young Life, called Young Lives. Young Life has always been open to all people, however, Whitmer realized that a faction of the population had trouble being involved.  “Teen moms have challenging schedules, so Young Life brought Young Lives to North Central,” Whitmer said.  Young Lives was implemented to allow teen moms to stay involved with Young Life. The nets are used around beds to prevent mosquitoes that carry malaria from biting and infecting people. Senior Molly Henry, who is the president of All for Children, planned Net Night. “It was a lot of work, a lot of work a lot goes into it,” Henry said. “Elise Johnson who was in charge of Net Night last year really set the bar high for us this year and I just want everyone to have a good time and know that they are supporting a really great cause.” The basketball tournament consisted of two different leagues, a competitive league and a recreational league. Each team had a...

We have a lot of talent on our team, and Roy Hibbert is an all-star this year. We are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and we are definitely a playoff team.
