The North Central Panthers traveled to Arsenal Tech to take on the Titans Friday, October 26, in the second round of sectional playoff action. The game started out with a bang for the Titans, as they scored on a 65-yard touchdown run on their opening drive. The Panthers were unable to put any points on the board before the end of the first quarter, and trailed 7-0 for most of the first half. After the opening drive, the Panther defense toughened up, and prevented any more scoring drives from the Titans. Late in the first half, North Central was able to begin sustaining drives, and were eventually able to score on a Demmond Roberson rushing touchdown with 35 seconds before halftime. The regular season came to an end for the North Central football team last Friday night, in a 16-7 loss to the Terre Haute North Patriots. The Panthers finished the regular season with a record of 2-7, with sectional play for the Indiana State Tournament beginning this Friday night. “Even with only two wins, I’ve always thought the team has had good chances. We’re a competitive team.” Athletic Director Chuck Jones said. North Central will play host to the Lawrence North Wildcats Friday, Oct. 19, in the first round of sectionals. Friday, September 21 started as another other day for the Carmel Greyhounds; the only difference was that this night was their homecoming game featuring the fierce rivalry against the 1-4 North Central Panthers. The Panthers looked ready, ready to make history, and spark an upset against the Greyhounds. The time is 5:45, an hour and 15 minutes before game time, when the Greyhounds open the gates to fans.
